We were recently approached by a firm that needed a way for field personnel to track quality control issues, and provide that data back to the home office in near-real-time. Staff would be 'in-the-field' when they identified the problems, and letting them record the issues on the fly with a Tablet PC would be ideal.

Through a multi-phase project, we were able to develop a solution based on SQL Server 2005 Replication. Field staff uses the application on a Tablet PC just like they were sitting in the home office, and the application intelligently sends data back home when they have a connection. Management has near 'real-time' data in the home office that they can use for reporting. And, the owners of the company can sell more services.
